1. When Can I Pick Up My Puppy? (When can my puppy be shipped?)
If you are able to pick up your puppy from our home, we like to place the puppy at 7 weeks of age whenever possible as studies have shown this to be the most optimal time to transition a puppy to a new home. It's before they go through that brief "fear period" and gives them a chance to settle in first. If we are shipping your puppy via airlines, we do so at 8 weeks of age as that is the airlines policy.
2. Can You Recommend Any Books or Information On Training Puppies?
We highly recommend any and all books by The Monks Of New Skeet, who raise German Shepard's in upstate New York. Their techniques are gentle, consistant and loving, and we believe all training should be this way. They have several books on this subject that are incredibly informative. They raise their dogs from the heart, and I don't think there's any other way to properly do it.
3. I've Never Bought A Dog From A Breeder Before. Can You Explain The Process?
We first ask that you contact us and tell us about yourself, why you're interested in the breed, if you've had a Siberian husky before and what your family life is like. There's nothing we love more than "talking dogs" so never worry you're taking up too much of our time. If you have your heart set on a siberian husky, we would love to talk to you about it and see if this breed of dog would be a good fit for you.
We consider all aspects of your family and home life in finding the perfect puppy for you. Some people prefer an alpha puppy while others would do better with a more submissive or middle range puppy. Once we have picked out that perfect puppy, we require a $200 deposit to be sent via Paypal or Postal Money Order to hold this puppy for you. This $200 is non-refundable and goes towards the price of your puppy. The remaining balance will be due when you pick up your puppy.
Each week we will put new pictures of the puppies on our website and also send you updates as often as possible on how your puppy is doing. Feel free to ask us any questions you might have! We are always happy to see new owners asking questions as this shows they are committed to this new coming family member.
If for some reason we do not have the perfect puppy for you and you do see a future breeding on our website with a sire and dam that you prefer a puppy from, you can request to be put on the waiting list for a puppy from that litter. I can do this at no charge, however if you would like a guaranteed first, second or third pick of a litter, you will need to place a deposit down ($200) at the time we put you on the guaranteed waiting list.
4. Your prices seem kind of high for a puppy..........................
There are very few breeders who make a profit in this business and unfortunately we are not one of them. We aren't in it for the money though, so that's okay with us. We breed Siberian huskies because we absolutely love everything about this breed. We have nine adult Siberians at this time and every single one of them is unique in it's own way. They are like our children. And they are expensive.
When one considers vet care, food, the diligent care for the expectant mother, the cost of an emergency visit to the veterinary emergency clinic in the middle of the night because one of the puppies is stuck, an unexpected c-section on the mother, cost of worming medicine, shots, vet checks on puppies, whelping supplies, cleaning supplies, cost of building whelping boxes, fees for registering litters with the AKC, and the uncountable hours we spend with the puppies doing Bio sensor exercises, enrichment, and socialization, one would see that our prices are pretty low considering the incredible amount of time, money and love we put into our puppies.
5. Why Do You Continually Talk About The Importance Of Nu-Vet Vitamins?
Guilty as charged! When it comes to the health and well being of a puppy or dog, we will sound like a broken record. There are very few products we will preach about, but this is definitely one of them. When we first started this product with our Siberians, we did not honestly expect to see any difference in them. My dogs were healthy, looked great, and we were truly amazed at the difference. Their coats suddenly became lush, vibrant, and shiny. One of our females occasionally has difficulty with hot spots and itching before starting these vitamins. She no longer does. More importantly, our whelping mothers gave birth to stronger, more lively puppies and no longer looked tired or worn out after raising a litter of puppies.
Nu-Vet Plus contains all natural ingredients. There are no fillers or artificial ingredients. They are wonderful to help puppies bone growth and eliminate or reduce the risk of itching, scratching, hot spots, allergies, arthritis, premature aging, digestive problems, heart disease, etc.............We know when giving these vitamins our Siberians are getting everything they need and it shows. Better yet, the cost is reasonable. The product is fantastic. They come in wafer form, and I've yet to see a dog refuse them. You give one a day and they chew it up just like a treat. All we have to do is rattle the bottle and every one of our siberians in hearing range sit down automatically and whine for theirs!
We believe so strongly in this product we extend our warranty on our puppies when they are continued on this product. We send enough samples home with you to get you started until you receive your order. We recommend starting these at about 7 weeks of age. For a few days you might need to break the wafer in a few pieces for these youngsters but it isn't long at all before they're able to chew them whole.
6. Why should we buy a McCracken Puppy?
Everything we do with our siberians is straight from the heart. We have a great love of this breed and will go to whatever length is necessary to keep them at their healthiest and happiest. Whether it be tube-feeding a puppy every 2 hrs for 3 weeks straight or staying up all night three nights in a row with a soon to be mother to make sure I'm there when labor starts, our siberians are like our children. They always come first.
The main focus of our kennel is our work with our puppies to make sure they are strong, healthy, intelligent, well socialized and will bond beautifully with their new families. We are constantly researching new studies on early puppy development and feel our program of bio sensor exercises, enrichment and socialization is incredibly successful in producing puppies that are happy, healthy and thrive in their new homes. This extra work is time consuming but vital to a puppy reaching it's highest potential.
My husband and I have five children (ages 19 to 5 yrs) and all of them spend quite a large amount of time with our huskies. My oldest son runs cross country and takes them running, which they love. My oldest daughter, like myself, is fascinated with early puppy development and is always by my side working with the little ones. Our younger two children have wonderful fun with the little ones, whether it be playing hide and seek out in the play yard or sledding down our large hill in the backyard with them. And I don't think there's one puppy that hasn't been subjected to sitting through a tea party with a bunch of half dressed dolls with Mackenzie!
Our huskies are not kept in small crates or kennels. They have plenty room to run and spend quite a bit of time in our house with us. They are part of our family and as much as we would love to own fifty of them, we feel it's best to keep our numbers smaller so that each one gets the individual attention they need and deserve.
We give life time support to our puppy owners and consider them to be our extended family. We are always available by phone or email to answer any questions or hear how puppies are doing. We are absolutely thrilled to receive news of how our puppies are doing and we truly enjoy the friendships that are built through this love of Siberian huskies.
7. Do you show your dogs?
We are very interested in showing our dogs in the future. We think Yuri and Tatiana would be fantastic in the ring. Our youngest children are going to start showing some of our puppies in 4H this year and we will be going to some dog shows to learn more about it.
